Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />CONSENT ITEM – 7G <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: June 12, 2023 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Julie Hanson, Assistant to the City Administrator/City Clerk <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Acknowledgment of Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Application to <br />Hold a Raffle at the September 16, 2023 Ribfest Event <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> $ $ $ <br /> Council Should Consider <br />Motion(s) to approve, table or deny the following: <br /> <br />• Acknowledgment of the LG220 Application from Minnesota Building and Construction <br />Trades for a raffle to be held at the September 16, 2023 Ribfest Event with no waiting <br />period. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />Minnesota Building and Construction Trades has submitted a request for authorization to hold a <br />raffle for the purpose of fundraising for the 501c3 Building Strong Communities (BSC). Funds <br />raised will be used for future events with service members, veterans, and their families such as unit <br />picnics, departure ceremony support and trade-specific projects such as home repair when service <br />members are deployed. Per Minnesota’s Lawful Gambling regulations, formal acknowledgment of <br />the application from the City is required. <br /> <br />As part of the requirement of the LG220 Application for Exempt Permit, the City must formally <br />acknowledge the application with no waiting period, with a 30-day waiting period, or deny the <br />application. <br /> <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve a motion acknowledging the LG220 Application for <br />Exempt Permit to conduct a raffle with a drawing date of September 16, 2023, with no waiting <br />period. <br /> <br />Budget Impact <br />N/A <br /> <br />Attachments <br />Attachment A: LG220 application <br />Attachment B: Non-profit letters
