Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />CONSENT ITEM – 7B <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: July 10, 2023 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator SUBJECT: Ordinance 2023-007 Regulations for Boards, Committees, and Commissions – <br />Amendment to Allow for Youth Commissioners <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> N/A N/A N/A <br /> Council Should Consider <br /> <br />Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br /> <br />• Ordinance 2023-007 Regulations for Boards, Committees, and Commissions – <br />Amendment to Allow for Youth Commissioners <br />• Authorize to publish Summary Ordinance 2023-007 <br />Summary Ordinance requires a 4/5th’s vote <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />At previous worksessions the City Council discussed amending the City Code to allow for Youth <br />Commissioners to serve on the Economic Development Commission (EDC) and the Parks, Trails <br />and Recreation Committee (PTRC). Council reviewed proposed language and directed Staff to <br />bring it forward for formal approval. The amended language will allow for one additional Youth <br />Commissioner on the EDC and PTRC assuming they meet the following guidelines: must be a <br />Sophomore, Junior, or Senior enrolled in high-school or PSEO program in a school district that <br />serves Arden Hills or a resident of Arden Hills attending school outside of the City’s typical <br />district.
