<br />......... <br /> <br />~:0~;hT~ G~ ~l.~SEY <br /> <br />8ITY (l;J t.:::YE.d !-IIL::_,S <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 80-34 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE <br />NORTH SUBURBAN CABLE CO~NISSION AND <br />A~POINrING DIRECTOR AND ALTERNATE DIRECTOR <br /> <br />WHEREAS, ~he City of Arden Hilla is included in an appzoved <br />cable service territory whiCh includes nine other cities in the <br />major metl:'opolitan subul:'ban area, and <br /> <br />~. <br /> <br />~~~azA3, recently amended Minnssota Statutes Section 238.08 <br />Subd. 5, authozigss municipalities to delegate to a joint cable <br />commission thei it power toprepars, adopt, g'Zan t. administer and <br />enforce a cable franchise and to establish rates thereunder, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is of the utmost importance for communities to <br />attempt to deal with the franchising process and witb subsequent <br />regulation of cable television in a manner best serving the <br />public interest, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by joint and cooperative sction with other cities <br />in the approved cable service territory, the City of Arden Hills <br />can share in the expense of the study of the franchiSing and <br />regulatory process, can develop a uniform approach to the matter <br />qf franchising, and can explore possibilities of joint and common <br />action on a permanent basis. and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills deems it proper and in tbe <br />public interest to enter into a Joint and Cooperative Agreement <br />presented at this meeting and attached hereto and made a part <br />bereof. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the <br />City of Arden Hills as follows: <br /> <br />1. That the City of Arden Hills participate in tbe <br />North Suburban Cable Commission. <br /> <br />2. Thst tbe appropriate official execute the Joint <br />and Cooperative Agreement and file it with the <br />City Maneger of the City of Roeeville. <br /> <br />-. <br /> <br />3. That the City of Arden Hille appoint aa ita <br />Director to represent it on the JointCol!llllis- <br />sion, James Wingert , who resides <br />Ill!: 1834 Venus Avenue, Arden H I II s, MN 55112. <br />2nd that 8aid individual's llame. address and <br />phone number be filed with the City Manager of tbe <br />City of Rosevl11e.
