Rice Creek Commons Energy Vision <br />Goal <br />Rice Creek Commons will be a vibrant development that aligns with the goals outlined in the <br />State of Minnesota’s Climate Action Framework: carbon neutrality, clean energy, climate <br />resiliency, equity and innovation. Rice Creek Commons will attract investment and partnership, <br />that will create sustainable benefits for the community. <br /> <br />Guiding Principles <br />Develop a resilient community for energy and other utilities: <br />— Endeavor to make investment in clean energy technologies economically attractive <br />— Pursue opportunities that reduce consumption, capture residual energy, and reuse local <br />resources <br />— Be self-sufficient to the extent possible and practical using local and renewable sources of <br />energy <br /> <br />Implement infrastructure solutions that are flexible and scalable over 50 years: <br />— Cultivate a platform that enables integration of future technological advances and more <br />efficient forms of energy <br />— Develop a smart grid on the Rice Creek Commons site <br /> <br />Deliver a model of efficient energy and water usage that minimizes Rice Creek Commons’ impact <br />on the environment: <br />— Introduce a comprehensive policy approach that promotes efficient utilization of all <br />resources <br />— Foster the advancement of behaviors and technologies that decrease the consumption of <br />energy and natural resources <br /> <br />Create an economically competitive and attractive environment for developers and <br />Businesses: <br />— Build a framework that is financeable, high quality, and sellable in private markets <br />— Prepare Rice Creek Commons to become a vibrant community that attracts people, <br />developers, businesses, and connects to surrounding communities.
