council. Those initially appointed shall be appointed for terms of two, three, four, five, and six years respectively. Thereafter all commissioners shall be appointed for six year terms. (c) Seven -member authority: the commissioners constituting a seven -member authority, two of whom must be members of the city council, shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council. Thereafter all commissioners shall be appointed for six year terms. (d) The enabling resolution may provide that the members of the city council shall serve as the commissioners. (e) The enabling resolution may provide for the appointment of members of the city council in excess of the number required in paragraphs (a), (b), and (c). (f) A vacancy is created in the membership of an authority when a city council member of the authority ends council membership. A vacancy for this or another reason must be filled for the balance of the unexpired term, in the manner in which the original appointment was made. The city council may set the term of the commissioners who are members of the city council to coincide with their term of office as members of the city council. Also, with the new schedule for 2024 and cancelling the second meeting of the month, Council should provide direction on when it would like to have its EDA meeting for the first quarter, which normally would fall on the same night as the second Council meeting. Staff believes it won't be able to fit it in prior to the first meeting of the Council, so if Council wants to meet in the first quarter it will need to pick which night to hold it (Council could leave it on the fourth Monday of the month, but there is not a planned Council meeting for that night).
