<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL -"1EETING MINUTES <br />JAi\1JARY 2,2002 <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />Councilmcmbcr Larson mentioned that he would still bc in favor of haying City Council <br />meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and wondered if any other members support the idea. The Council <br />discussed the proposal and by conscnsus agreed to begin City Council meetings at 7:00 p.m., and <br />adjourning no later than 10:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson indicated hc will be gone from January 5 through January 20, 2002. He <br />will not be in attendancc at the January 14, 2002, City Council meeting, but indicated he would <br />like the Council to find a way to financially support recreation programs, and also would like <br />City Council to find a way to fund the proposed capital improvemcnts for 2002 as previously <br />presented. <br /> <br />Councilmember Aplikowski mentioned that originally the Operations and Finance Committee <br />had its membership branched out to attcnd other meetings so therc was involvement and <br />information exchanged bctween members of the Operations and Finance Committee and various <br />other committccs. <br /> <br />Councilmember Aplikowski also mentioned that she had read the book "Who Moved My <br />Checsc?", and had tapes as well, and they were available for allY City Council member who was <br />interested. <br /> <br />Councilmember Aplikowski also wanted to indicate that she did not want to sce more recounting <br />of stories from the consultant at the retreat but rather get straight to the point and get to solutions <br />to concerns between and amongst City Council members at thc retreat. <br /> <br />Councilmember Aplikowski also thanked Councilmember Rem for the infonnation on thc <br />TCAAP meeting on January 10,2002. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst indicated that the letter from Senator Dayton's office was at their mging and hc <br />was not sure of the agenda for the meeting but looked for support from the City Council to have a <br />briefing with Senator Dayton and his staff before the mccting on January lO so that there was no <br />surprisc about thcir proposal to go forward with special legislation to obtain property for the City <br />of Arden Hills. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst also reviewed a letter he had reccivcd dated December 21,2001, from <br />Representative Betty McCollum, to Gcncral Paul Kirk of Anny Materiel Command, wanting a <br />meeting to talk about property being declared excess and concerns that she had about the removal <br />of contamination and the pressure that redevelopmcnt of the property to industrial would present <br />to the property. Probst turned ovcr the letter to staff to copy for the City Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst indicated that he had reccivcd the installation restoration program for the Twin <br />Citics Army Ammunition Plant Newsletter indicating that the TCAAP plume clcan up was <br />occuning faster than originally anticipated. A copy of this will be sent to all City Council <br />members as well. <br />
