<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ARDEN HILLS REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br />ruNE 24, 2002 <br /> <br />11 <br /> <br />Council Member Larson stated last week the cities met with the representatives of <br />the Fire Department to select a Fire Chief and stated a new Fire Chief had been <br />retained. He suggested the City provide forn1er people who have made a <br />significant contribution to the City with a plaque or some other type of <br />recognition, and not just a Resolution. He indicated the City could do a better job <br />of recognizing those people. Mayor Probst agreed with Council Member Larson <br />and requested this be added to a future work session for discussion, Cmillcil <br />Member Larson stated he would not be at the July 8, 2002 meeting, <br /> <br />Council Member Aplikowski stated she would be lost without the written minutes, <br />but she stated they spent too much time correcting them, She thanked everyone <br />who worked at the "Day in the Park" event. She thanked everyone who <br />participated in the parade, She thanked all of the volunteers and the financial <br />contributors to the event. She asked if the five year plan for road maintenance and <br />repair could be made public. Council Member Rem indicated this could be put in <br />the next City newsletter to be published in August. <br /> <br />Council Member Rem asked for more detail information about the budget for the <br />recreation programs. She asked if the Work Session minutes were in complete <br />forn1, or if they were in draft form. She requested names be checked by staff prior <br />to submitting minutes to Council for approval. She requested staff review the <br />Work Session minutes more carefully because they were not video recorded, City <br />Attorney Filla stated what was required in City minutes was a record of the <br />motions and what each Council Member voted on the motions, He stated he had <br />seen both long minutes and short minutes. It was up to Council's discretion as to <br />how they want the minutes recorded. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst indicated there would be a 6:00 p.m. work session meeting before <br />the City Council Meeting on July 8, Council Member Grant requested the meeting <br />be held in the second floor conference room, Mayor Probst requested staff <br />determine what kinds of comparisons they could draw between where the City was <br />compared to the averages from the State Auditor's report prior to budget <br />discussions. He suggested staff pursue the cost of having the longer microphones <br />installed on the Council desk. Council Member Grant recommended they look at <br />microphones at least five inches longer. Mayor Probst again thanked everyone <br />involved in the "Day in the Park" event. He suggested they have a future work <br />session discussion about what could be done differently with this event as well as <br />how the past events went.
