__________m_ _
ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - OCTOBER 29,2001 14
Councilmember Aplikowski stated she had heard from a contact that the County was moving
. forward.
Councilmember Grant requested staff look at the City Emergency Response Management Plan
given the recent events of September 11, 2001. He stated he agreed there might be some
additional items that could be added or changed. He noted there are a number of emergencies
that are more involved than natural disasters.
Councilmember Rem stated the Newsletter Committee was meeting this Wednesday to wrap up
this month's issue. She noted additional persons and entities that had requested the City
Newsletter, which were Senator Reiter, Representative Krinkie, Commissioner Bennett, Arden
Hills/Shoreview Bulletin, Northwestern College, Bethel College, and Presbyterian Homes. She
added she wanted the Council to be aware of the request. She stated they had assumed the local
businesses were getting the Newsletter.
Mayor Probst stated he concurred it was in the city's best interest to send the Newsletter to the
persons and entities indicated.
Councilmember Larson thanked the Council for the cards and condolences received after the
death of his father.
Councilmember Larson stated there was no edge marker on the part of old Snelling that was
. repaved. He noted this made it very difficult for cars and pedestrians. Mr. Moore responded he
had called Mr. Vince Schwartz several times and was only able to leave voice mail messages.
He stated Mr. Schwartz, Ramsey County Department of Public Works and Highway
Maintenance Supervisor of signs and pavement markings. He noted he would continue to try to
reach Mr. Schwartz.
Councilmember Aplikowski stated the City used to send about 25 newsletters over to
Presbyterian Homes. She noted the Events Committee has not met recently.
Mayor Probst stated he met with a party representing another company wanting to discus the
TCAAP project. He noted he had indicated to the representative that if the company was
interested, the representatives should make a presentation to the entire City Council. He added
he anticipates that they might want to come to the November 19,20001 Worksession to discuss
an approach. He stated he had been approached several months ago by a consulting firm about
another entity. He noted he has had no further contact. He added he was not sure if this meant a
lack of interest. He stated there were four parties that had approached the City regarding a
proposed transaction. He noted the Council could elevate the Arsenal property discussion. He
added the Council should address how it wished to proceed along that path, not only as it relates
to development, but to get the Maintenance facility back on track. He stated the entities had a
strong interest in the City making a decision on how it wants to proceed.
Councilmember Grant stated he appreciated the work the staff had done in terms of the new City
. Hall. He noted every staff member had been involved in bringing the building to the point where
they could have a Council meeting. He added he wanted to express his appreciation for all that
work.
