I I. I I I I I I . .. . . . . I I . .. . Arden Hills council 2 January 20, 1994 Councilmember Probst stated he is in favor of preservation of space and the City should take control of the property. Councilmember Malone stated he has no preference either way, however, this land is obviously going to be relinquished by the owner. Malone further stated he would rather have the City take control of the property over the County or a possible home being built on the property. The cost is minimal to the city to accept this property. The city should accept the land knowing the city will incur some expense. Councilmember Aplikowski agreed with the other Councilmembers. Councilmember Hicks questioned the expense of $1,500 to the city to take possession of this land. Mr. Winkel stated the disposal cost to remove the blacktop would be between $300-$500 and there would be a cost to remove the fence. councilmember Hicks once again stressed that the staff contact the neighbors. Councilmember Probst stated it would be appropriate to direct staff to research further the issues being addressed this evening, to draft an agreement between the city and the Sheehyts to be reviewed by Council. At a future date, this issue should be addressed to the Park & Recreation Committee. All councilmembers concurred. C. G. RILL - TIF DISCUSSION Brian Fritsinger informed the Council that he has been approached by a business looking to locate to Arden Hills. This company is looking to expand its operation and would like to obtain some TIF assistance. The company is a machine shop and employs approximately 35 people. They have stated that the business is self contained and utilizes no outside storage. The company is considering constructing a new building on the Control Data property, north of the frontage road. They are considering acquiring 4 acres and constructing approximately a 30,000 sq. ft. building. One possible problem with the proposal is that the Ordinance appears to require frontage on a road. This site would have access only through a permanent easement. A new TIF district would also have to be created to assist this company. Councilmember Hicks questioned whether this was an additional location for this business or would the business make a complete move to Arden Hills. Mr. Fritsinger stated the Arden Hills location would be the only location for this business. Malone
