7/~.f" Minutes of Regular Human Rights Commission Meeting . Village of Arden Hills March 5, 1987 Village Hall Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Sorensen. Roll Call Present: Howard Sorensen, Susan Erickson, Pat Fish, Jane Dean, Tim Byrne Absent: Shirley Chase, Joan Growe, Deanna Supino, Barb Younoszai, Lois Donalds Also Present: Councilman Gary Peck Approval of Minutes It was moved by Erickson, seconded by Dean, that the minutes of December 11, 1986, be approved as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. Pacer Pro~ram Report The Pacer program was presented at Valentine Hills School ($100, two presentations), and Island Lake School ($150, three sessions). At both schools, one-half of the cost of presentation was assumed by the PTO. An additional segment devoted to acquainting children with the problems of the mentally retarded had been added to the program. Notes of appreciation have been received from the principals of both schools. . Commission felt this to be a worthwhile, ongoing project; would like to continue in 1988. No Fault Grievance Report Commission members have dealt with two cases since the last meeting. One is still being adjudicated; concerns alleged discrimination in a layoff situation. The other has been satisfactorily resolved between the plaintiff and employer; concerned alleged racial discrimination. Trainin~ Sessions. No Fault Grievance Procedure Jane Dean and Sue Erickson will be attending a training session, sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, on April 4, at John Glenn Jr. Hi~h School. Pat Fish plans to attend a session on April II, at the Fridley City Hall. 1fommittee Resi~nation The committee regretfully accepted Jill Peterson's resignation from the Commission, due to conflicts in meeting time and a crowded personal schedule. Ad;ournment It was moved by Fish, seconded by Erickson, that the meeting be adjourned at 8:10 p.m. Submitted by Shirley Marshall. . **********
