Oelke, Landscape Inspector
Re: Initial Landscape Inspection of Northwoods Office Park,l "' f -.:1._ r:--> 'J~;'(j
3900 Northwoods Drive /00
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
An initial inspection was made on April 26 with a follow-up visit on May
17. Generally, the landscape material at the Northwoods Office Park, 3900
Northwoods Drive, was found to be of excellent quality and conforming to
the landscape plan.
However, because of the lack of snow last winter, many of the evergreen
shrubs were brown from winter injury and may have to be replaced. The
shrubs which were brown are noted on the landscape plan with a red circle
around them. Most of the brown shrubs were on the north and west side of
the building. The most severe browning occurred on the Tauton Yew shrubs
on the northwest side of the building. Yews are particularly susceptible
to winter injury, especially when on the northwest side of the building.
Since so many are injured and may not survive, it may be desirable to
. consider a type of Juniper which is mO,re sun tolerant for the northwest
side of the building.
Some of the landscape material was missing. The missing plant material is
indicated in red on the landscape plan. I have indicated on the plant
list also the missing plant material. The actual number, if different
from the original number, is given in red. Following the plant list, 3
silver maple trees are missing; one on the southwest corner of the front
, berm and two in the front parking lot area. The 2 weeping willow trees
planned for the south berm are missing. There were a total of 5 Colorado
Green Spruce missing; 3 by the front entrance to the building and 3 in
front of the sign by the main entrance. The plant list indicated 33 Red
Twig Dogwood but only 21 were present. Eight Gold Drop Potentilla were
missing according to the plant list; however, the landscape plan indicated
that only 65 should be planted on the southwest side of the building.
There were a total of 81 on the southwest side.
The plant list indicated 20 more Scandia Juniper than the landscape plan
indicated. Perhaps the 20 Scandia Juniper on the "enlarged sign plan"
were counted twice since they are drawn in the overall plan as well.
There were only 183 Matador Daylilies present compared to 481 called for
on the plant list. Also only 117 tulips were present compared to 240
indicated on the plant list. There were only 129 Hosta plants compared to
240 on the plant list. There were 2 fewer Japgarden Juniper present than
the plant list indicated. The missing 2 are shown in red on the northwest
. edge of the front pond.
Besides the evergreen shrubs, some of the other landscape material needs
to be observed for survival. These are indicated by a red circle around
