. Marina Andrews
5147 217th Street N
Forest Lake, MN 55025
Arden Hills City Council
Arden Hills Village Hall
1450 West Highway #96
Arden hills, MN 55112
August 26, 1987
Ardea Hills City Council,
Boat traffic oa Lake Johanaa is already restricted
by boating hour. (under 5 aph, 11aa to 3pm & after 7pm).
Limiting the speed of boats to under 40llph the rest of the
tille seems to be excessiTe legislation which oTerlook. the
real problem. The real problem with Lake Johanaa is too auch
aon-resident boat~ng.
Cutting thiil boat la'Wilch parking lot in half anLlimiting
the use of one side _! the parking lot (to cars towxng boat
trailiilr~ did not curtail the problem of too many boaters on
a very small lake. Now, cars towing boat trailers simply
. park along Johanna BouleTard once the parking lot is full.
As far as I know, speed has never contributed to any
boating accidents on Lake Johanna, but the congestion of the
lake is cause for concern on the part of lake shore residents
who, I might add, pay higher taxes to liTe on a lake which
is often too crowded for them to use as they wish.
I suggest the City Council vote on posting Lake Jehanna
Boulevard "NO TRAILER PARKING" rather than voting on liaiting
the speed of boats during the already limited boating hours
on Lake Johanna.
Thallk: you,
. ,17~;u.-<~ ~h9_J
j Mar~na AnClrews
forller Lake Johanna
resident
. i
