CASE #87-28; SUP Council was referred to Planner's report, 8-26-87, and <br /> ANTENNA, 1541 Planning Commission Hinutes, 9-2-87, relative to the <br /> EDGEWATER, lAHNKE Special Use Permit application for a Radio Antenna at <br /> 1541 Idgewater Avenue, Joseph Kshnke. <br /> Planner Hiller explained the applicant is proposing to install an amateur radio <br /> ~tenna in the rear yard of his home; 35 ft. in height, 2 inches in diameter, <br /> does not require guy wires, and will. be located approximately 35 ft. from his <br /> home and from each side lot line. The tower will be approximately 60 ft. from <br /> the rear lot line and, in case of windfall, it would clear the house and <br /> adjacent properties. ~iller discussed the aesthetic. of the tower and noted <br /> that the tower will be visible from adjacent propertie. end residents acrosa <br /> the .treet, however, because of the scala of this antenna, it would have no <br /> Ireater impact than a regular TV antenna or a flaspole. <br /> Hiller advised that the Plannins Commi.sion had recommended approval and <br /> reViewed the conditions atipulated. <br /> Joaeph lahnke, 1541 Edsewater, was present to an.wer any questions. <br /> Council queationed if there would be aclditional apparatua on the antenna. <br /> lahnke explained that he was not certain at this time; it would depend on <br /> reception. He commented that if extensions were to be added at a later date, <br /> they would be approximately 14 feet vertically, with rods meaauring 1 inch in <br /> . diameter. <br /> Winiecki .sked if . 14 ft. apan would be the largest the antenna would aupport. <br /> lahnke at.ted that was correct. <br /> Council discussed whether or not the antenna would interfere with radio or <br /> television reception in the area. <br /> Winiecki commented it vas clearly pointed out at. the Planning Commission <br /> meeting that the low level transmission does not interfere vith either radio <br /> or television reception. Planner Miller advised he has had discussions with <br /> experts who stated if appropriate equipment is used that ahould not be a <br /> problem; he is not aware of any complaints siven those currently operating in <br /> the City. <br /> Minutes of the Regular Council Meeting, September 14, 1987 - <br /> Page 4 ~ <br /> CASE #87-28 (Cont'd) There was discussion relative to recourse if <br /> neighborhood complaints are received relative to <br /> interference with reception. <br /> . Hoved by Hansen, seconded by Winiecki, that Council <br /> approve the Special Uae Permit for Amateur Radio Antenna at 1541 Idsewater <br /> Avenue, Joseph lahnke, contingent upon the. antenna not exceeding 35 feet in <br /> height, 2 inches in diameter, with no suy wires, with no horizontal mast <br /> attached, to be located according to the plan auhmitted by the applicant, and <br /> that the permit would expires upon lapse of lahnke'a FCC license or his <br /> vacating the premises, whichever comes first.
