Road I Shoreview, MN 55126 Dear Dan: At the Shoreview City Council meeting on Monday, November 16, 1987, you commented that the procedure for developing a new budget for fire service for all three communities would be facilitated if it could be determined which city would be involved in the negotiations for each station. The Shoreview City Council requested that the three cities should attempt to clarify this for the fire department. After discussions among officials of the three cities, the responsibility for negotiation of the annual budget for each station will be assigned as follows: Station U City of Arden Hills Station 12 Cities of Shoreview and North Oaks . Station t3 City of Shoreview Station t4 City of Shoreview By assigning responsibility for budget negotiations in this way, the cities are not suggesting that the negotiations be separate. The cities anticipate that there will one or more budget meetings in which all the cities participate with the fire department at the same time so that any issues relating to the fire department as a whole can be addressed and so that any questions concerning the allocation of costs among the stations can be answered. Incidently, you may be interested to know that the cities of Shoreview and North Oaks are in agreement about the sharing of costs for Station 12 on a 50-50 basis. We hope that this answers the questions about the negotiating process to be used which you raised at the Shoreview City Council meeting.
