SIRENS Council was advised by Public Works Supervlsor that the <br /> Ramsey County Sheriff's Department, will be in charge of <br />the Civil Defense Siren activation since the National Weather Service will no <br />longer activate the sirens; however~ the sirens will have to be changed to <br />accomplish this takeover. ~ <br />Raddatz noted that the City budgeted $8,976.00 to repair sirens in 1988; the <br />monies will have to be spent prior to the first of year. <br /> Moved by Hansen, seconded by Peck, that Council approve <br />the expenditure of monies necessary to accomplish the Civil Defense Siren <br />changeover to be activated by Ramsey ,County, in the amount of $8,976.00, as <br />outlined by the Public Works Supervisor. Motion carried unanimously. (5-0) <br />INTEREST CHARGE: Public Works Supervisor Raddatz discussed the $200.00 <br />I-TON FORD TRUCK interest charge for late payment on the 1988 Ford I-Ton <br /> truck, recently purchased from Minar Ford. <br />After discussion, Council concurred to request the Clerk Administrator contact <br />the General Manager of the dealership to try to resolve the matter. <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br />SOLID WASTE MGMT. Councilmember Hansen reported that she and Paul Malone <br /> completed the grant application; Nancy thanked Paul for <br />his fine work on this project. . <br />COLLISION INS.; Council was referred to a letter from Sheriff Zarcharias; <br />POLICE VEHICLES ~garding collision insurance for the Ramsey County <br /> squads, <br />Hansen advised that the City has had physical damage to squads recently; Clerk <br />Administrator advised that she had discussed this matter with Commander Bergeron <br />and he is compiling a report of costs for such insurance coverage. Morrison <br />stated that the report should be ready by January 1988. <br />RCLLG; RESOLUTIONS Councilmember Hansen reviewed the request for Council <br /> approval of the three resolutions submitted for <br />'consideration by the RCLLG and dealing with opposing the State sales tax, <br />formation of a Ramsey County Park Board and urging repeal of the 3~ Levy Limit. <br /> Moved by Hansen, seconded by Winiecki, that Council <br />approve Resolution No. 87-71, Opposing State Sales And Motor Vehicle Excise Tax <br />On Purchases Made By Cities And Other Local Government Units. Motion carried <br />unanimously. (5-0) <br /> Moved by Hansen, seconded by Peck, that Council approve <br />Resolution No. 87-72, Urging Formation Of A Ramsey County Park Board. Motion . <br />carried unanimously. (5-0) <br /> Moved by Hansen, seconded by Sather, that Council approve <br />Resolution No. 87-73, Urging Repeal Of Three Percent Levy Limit Law. Motion <br />carried. (Hansen, Sather, Peck and Winiecki voting in favor; Woodburn opposed. <br />(4-1) <br />REQ. TO STOCKPILE Council was referred to a letter dated 12-14-87, from <br />FILL; NORTHWOODS, Opus Corporation: request to stockpile approximately <br />OPUS CORPORATION 3-400 cubic yards of quality granular fill, for a period <br /> of six months. The letter explained that Opus intends to <br />utilize the fill for further development of Northwoods, however, if the <br />development did not occur within six months, Opus would request an extension. <br /> Sather moved, seconded by Hansen, that Council approve <br />the request from Opus Corporation to stockpile quality granular fill at the <br />Northwoods Site, as shown on the sketch submitted, for a period of six months <br />from this date. Motion carried. unanimously. (5-0) <br />1868 GRANT ROAD; Councilmember Hansen explained that the resident at <br />REQ. REIMBURSEMENT 1868 Grant Road had requested Council consideration of <br /> partial reimbursement for damages incurred with backup of . <br />sewer into their basement. She advised the insurance adjuster, after <br />investigation, had determined that there was no liability on the part of the <br />City. <br />Mayor Woodburn expressed concern in the City taking a position contrary to the <br />insurance adjuster and setting a precedent. <br />
