Public Works Director / City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: South Tower Improvements Project Discussion <br /> <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> $250,000 (2024 CIP) $443,017 (estimate) Water Utility Fund, UASI grant <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br /> <br />Council should consider: <br />• The proposed South Tower Improvements related to repairs and security elements. <br />• Adjusting the project budget to fit needs. <br /> <br />Background/ Discussion <br /> <br />On August 28, 2023 the City Council approved Professional Services Agreement with TKDA for <br />the South Tower Improvements project. <br /> <br />Within the City’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) the South Tower is planned for improvements <br />in 2024. Public Works ordered an inspection of the South Tower that was completed Fall of <br />2022, the report recommendations include spot coating repairs, minor structural repairs and other <br />improvements related to OSHA requirements. <br /> <br />Along with the recommended repairs, it is desired to include security improvements that were <br />identified in the City’s Water Risk and Resiliency Assessment to the South Tower with this <br />project. Below are some options that are being considered: <br /> <br />a. 8-ft Security perimeter fencing and gates <br />b. Bollards for booster station generator <br />c. Replace plywood cover of lower level access with lockable cover <br />d. Card reader for site access control <br />e. Intrusion alarms for overhead doors at booster station and water tower <br /> <br />
