------------
~ "
CONSUL liNG ENGINEERS .
Maier Stewart & Associates Inc.
January 22, 1990
File No: 520-005-70
Mr, Gary Berger
Administrator
City of Arden Hills
1450 W. Highway 96
Arden Hi 11 s, MN 55112
RE: MNDOT SIGNAL AGREEMENTS
Dear Mr, Berger:
As you requested, we have reviewed the two MnDOT traffic control signal
agreements. The first, agreement #66650. is between MnDOT, Ramsey County and
the Cities of Arden Hills and Shoreview. This agreement basically lays out
MnDOT's responsibilities for payment on the signal installations they are
involved in. These would be at Snelling Avenue/County Road E interchange and
the I694/Lexington Avenue interchange. The cost participation percentages and
the estimated construction cost for the signal systems covered by this agreement .
are the same as has been previously discussed,
The second agreement, #66648-R, deals with maintenance of the emergency vehicle
pre-emption system to be installed at the same interchanges. The agreement
states that MnDOT will be responsible for maintenance of the system, but the
City will reimburse the State for the cost. At the I694/Lexington Avenue inter-
change, Arden Hills pays the cost for maintenance at the south ramps and
Shoreview does the same for the north ramps,
80th these agreements are rather standard and appear to have the proper dollar
amounts and percentages included in them. Therefore, we would recommend City
Council approval of these to proceed with the traffic signal/EVP system project,
Both agreements contain sample resolutions at the rear which the City Council
could consider for approval of the agreements.
If you have any questions regarding this, please call. We are returning the
agreement originals along with this correspondence.
Sincerely,
MAIER STEWART AND ASSOCIATES, INC.
r;-/~
T~Maur~. .
TJM/km
enc.
1959 SLOAN PLACE, ST.
