Iago, Deputy Clerk RE: Request to Lease/Purchase Computers ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Staff has completed a review of our existing computer equipment and upgrading of the existing equipment to provide a more standardized work environment. Council has approved the amount of $10,236.00 in 1990 toward the purchase of three computers and a laser printer. An amount of $500.00 was budgeted in 1990 for the purchase of additional computer software. The only item not included in the budget estimates was the installation of the new computers and the cable connections to the new Laser printer. Three quotes were received for lease/purchase of the equipment, software and installation. The purchase quote from Curren tech Company does not include the cabling required for the computers and I was unable to contact the salesperson to receive this information; if possible I will report this information on Monday at the Council meeting. . The installation co.,t from Ameridata is approximately $800.00 and includes transfer of our current IBM AT to another location in City Hall, set-up and installation of software and cabling to the Laser Printer from all computers. The representative from Ameridata has allowed a $275.00 trade-in for the IBM PC (Dual-Floppy Disk) computer which is currently networked to the IBM AT. . RECOHMENDATION: I would recommend leasing the above equipment from Ameridata for 48 mos. at the 10% buyout rate of $276.00 per month. This will mean an additional $3,000.00 will be expended over the 48 month period above the purchase costs, however, technology may change substantially within the same time period and it is possible to upgrade equipment at any t- ime under the lease terms.
