,
,
CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
. MEMORANDUM
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
DATE: March 22, 1990
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: (,;-J'catherine J. Iago, Deputy Clerk
SUBJECT: Issuance of Charitable Gambling Licenses
~~;=======================================================================
Staff has received the attached two applications for a charitable gambling
license. Both are requesting Class A gambling licenses to operate at the
Pot-O-Gold Bingo Hall. City Ordinance states the City may have up to nine
charitable gambling licenses, but in a combination not to exceed 7 Class A
or 2 Class B licenses.
At the present time, the following five organizations hold Class A
licenses and operate at the Pot-O-Gold: Concordia Singing Society, St.
Paul Turners~ Light Brigade, Sweet Adelines and the Church of St. Mary's.
. RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the two Class A charitable gambling licenses be
issued as requested, bringing the total number of Class A licenses to the
maximum of seven. With these two new licenses, the maximum number of
charitable gambling licenses in the City would be nine, thus no new
licenses could be issued unless an organization does not apply for
renewal.
ACTION REQUIRED:
If Council concurs with the staff recommendation, they should authorize
issuance of two Class A charitable gambling licenses, one to Lady Slipper
Chapter ABWA, and the other to C.B. Society, Inc.
GRB:madlr
attachments
.
