CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
MEMORANDUM
~ -----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------
DATE: April 26, 1990
TO: Mayor and city council
FROM: Dan Winkel, P.W. Supervisor
SUBJECT: Completion of six Month Probationary Period - Pete
Saxe -
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
Pete Saxe will be completing his six month probationary period
on May 1, 1990. I met with Mr. Saxe this week to conduct his
employee performance evaluation, which was very positive. I
feel Pete has done an outstanding job for the Public Works
Department since he started employment here on November 1, 1989.
Because of Mr. Saxe's past utility installation work experience,
and the similarity of these responsibilities within his present
job description, his presence has had an immediate and positive
impact on the City crew. I feel the city is fortunate to have
Pete working for them.
~ RECOMMENDATION:
Based on a very positive performance evaluation and a highly
satisfactory probationary period, I recommend that Mr. Saxe move
on to the next pay level. Mr. Saxe was hired at the 80% wage
level, and is scheduled to go to 90% after six months (which
would be $11.86 per hour). However, at this time, I recommend
that Mr. Saxe go to 95% of full wages ($12.52/hour) . This rate
increase was also done with Jim Perron. I feel that Mr. Saxe
has been a tremendous asset to the P.W. Dept. , and his hard work
ethics and experience should not go unnoticed. It should also
be noted that this increase was budgeted for in this year's
budget.
ACTION REQUIRED:
If Council concurs with the staff recommendation, they should
pass a motion approving the permanent employment status of Pete
Saxe, and increase his salary to 95% of the wage rate, which is
$12.52 per hour, effective May 1, 1990.
DW:madlr
~
