LIGHT BRIGADE, INC. . 1900 West County Road F Arden Hills, Minnesota 55112 June 19, 1990 Dear Mayor Sather and City Councilmembers: As you know, the Light Brigade has been involved with charitable gambling in the City of Arden Hills since April of 1989. Through May 31 of 1990, a period of 14 months, our organization has been able to raise $281,984 for local charitable projects. We would like to continue making these significant contributions within the community. On February 15 of this year, charitable gambling at the Blue Fox Inn was suspended by the State Control Board for a period of four months due to a violation that occurred some two months before we began our pull-tab operation at that site. We now have the right to reapply for that license. By your reissuing the Light Brigade this license, you will not be increasing the amount of charitable gambling in Arden Hills. In effect, you will be maintaining the status quo by returning to the situation that existed on February 15. That is: pull-tab licenses issued for the Blue Fox Inn, McGuire's Inn,' and the Big Ten Supper Club, with bingo and pull-tab licenses at the Arden Hills Bingo Hall. The seven licenses currently assigned . to the bingo hall cannot increase charitable gambling within the city. The bingo hall is regulated by both st.~te and city laws that restrict the number of occasions that ca: be held there weekly. Another point of clarification is that the seven licenses issued for the bingo hall are not transferrable to other sites. If gr'anted a license to once again sell pull-tabs at the Blue Fox, the Light Brigade projects annual sales at this site to raise $120,000 for charitable projects, and an additional $17,500 for the Arden Hills City tax on charitable gambling. For these reasons, our organization is asking that you reconsider your current position at your June 25 Council meeting and thereby grant the Light Brigade its pull-tab license for the Blue Fox Inn.
