,

CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
MEMORANDUM

. ==================================================================

DATE: July 3, 1990
TO: Mayor and city council
FROM: 0/:1 Gary R. Berger, city Administrator
SUBJECT: Soil Treatment options - Kem Milling site
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

Attached please find a letter from Darrell Oman describing two
options for treating the contaminated soils at the Kem Milling
site. council may recall that Paul Goudreault from Delta,
advised Council about this matter at the June 25 Council meeting.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends treating the soil via the high temperature
thermal treatment. This method is only $200 more than the land
application method, takes less time to accomplish, and there
would be no follow-up maintenance in the future.

ACTION REQUIRED:

. If Council concurs with the staff recommendation, they should
pass a motion authorizing Delta to arrange for thermal treatment
of the contaminated soils at the Kem Milling site, at a cost not
to exceed $2,300.

GRB:madlr

attachment

.
