. MEM:lRANDUM
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DATE: August 10, 1990
ill: Gary R. Berger, Clerk Administrator
FRCM: catherine J. Iago, Deputy Clerk
RE: Request Increase in Election Judges Wages
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pursuant to Minnesota Elections laws section 204B.31, amended in 1987,
Compensation for Elections Services, all election judges must be paid ".. a snn
not less than the prevailing Minnesota minimum wage. . . " .
The city currently compensates elections judges in the amount of $3.55 per hour
and chairpersons are paid at $3.80 per hour. In order to comply with state law
and maintain the differential between the regular judges and chairpersons, I am
recorrnnending the following rate increased for 1990 election judges salaries:
Judges $ 3.95 per hour
Chairpersons $ 4.25 per hour
. I would also request that Dorothy Zehm and Charlotte McNiesh be retained for the
Prinary and General Elections days to serve as "Election Officials" at the $ .';.25
per hour rate. Both individuals have extensive experience and will be able to
answer inquiries from election judges and general public regarding the election
process.
Thank you for consideration of these requests.
.
