January 2 letter fran the city Attorney regarding the application <br /> of the gambling regulations on st. Mary's Romanian Orthodox Church <br /> and st. Paul Turner's Gymnastics Society. <br /> 2. January 8 letter fran clifton Aichinger from st. Paul Turner's <br /> Gymnastics Society. <br /> 3. January 10 letter fran James Capeti, st. Mary's Rorranian Orthodox <br /> Church. <br />- At the December 30, 1991, Council meeting, Council directed the City <br /> Attorney to clarify the "trade area" and "lawful purpose" gambling <br /> regulations on these two charitable gambling organizations. '!he City <br /> Attorney indicated in his letter that neither organization was in <br /> compliance at that time of their application. since that time, clifton <br /> Aichinger, from st. Paul Turner's has suhnitted additional information. <br /> After Council's review of the attached information and having heard the <br /> City Attorney's verbal presentation, they may consider either passing or <br /> denying Resolution No. 92-06 Approving Cl1aritable Gambling Premises <br /> Pennit Application for st. Paul Turner's Gymnastics Society. Council <br /> should note that I have been advised by the city Attorney that the <br /> twenty $1,000.00 scholarships do not fulfill the requirement of <br /> donations to charitable organizations within the trade area. st. Mary's <br /> Romanian Orthodox O1urch requested review at the January 27 Council <br /> meeting, if there is any controversy. (See attached). <br /> REO:X>1MENDATION: <br /> It appears that st. Paul Turner's Gymnastics Society is not in <br /> compliance with the regulations.
