Miller, Assistant Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: Professional Services with Rainbow Tree Care <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: <br />$15,000 $5,500 <br />(For tree removal and EAB) <br />Council Should Consider <br />Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br />CONSENT ITEM — 8L <br />Funding Source: <br />Parks Maintenance Fund <br />Agreement for Professional Services with Rainbow Tree Care to treat smaller existing <br />ash trees on City property by ground treatment. <br />Agreement for Professional Services with Rainbow Tree Care to treat existing ash trees <br />private property by injection. <br />Agreement for Professional Services with Rainbow Tree Care to treat existing oak trees <br />on City property and private property by injection. <br />Background/Discussion <br />Annually, Staff reviews contracting with Rainbow Tree Care (RTC) for Emerald Ash Borer and <br />Two -Lined Chestnut Borer mitigation services to City owned, public Ash and Oak trees. This <br />year, the contract sets the cost rate per inch for the City to treat by injection existing Oak trees <br />and also provides Arden Hills residents a discounted rate from RTC's standard fee to treat their <br />Ash and Oak trees by injection, if interested. RTC is offering $7.25 per inch for Ash and $8.75 <br />per inch for Oak for residents and $5.15 per inch for both Ash and Oak trees for the City in 2024. <br />Correlating tables can be seen in Attachments B & C. Attachment A is a copy of their <br />professional services agreement. <br />As in the past, pricing was provided for contracting with RTC to provide services to ground treat <br />existing City Ash trees that are too small for injection treatment. The contract sets the cost rate <br />per inch for the City to ground treat at $4.57 per inch.
