Buckley, Parks Director/city ForesterJ~ <br /> SUBJECT : 1992 Shade Tree Program <br /> The drought summers of 1988, 1989, and 1990, caused a great deal of stress to sick <br /> and healthy trees. The welcomed rains did provide some relief for the urban forest <br /> in 1991. <br /> Diseased Trees Removed: <br /> 1989 Oaks - 164 Elms - 90 Total: 254 Trees <br /> 1990 Oaks - 134 Elms - 52 Total: 186 Trees <br /> 1991 Oaks - 129 Elms - 44 Total: 173 Trees <br /> pavment to City Tree Contractor: <br />. 1989 Public Prop.-$ 1,775.00 Private Prop.-$22,094.50 Total: $23,869.50 <br /> 1990 Public Prop.-$ 449.00 Private Prop.-$ 5,790.75 Total: $ 6,239.75 <br /> 1991 Public Prop.-$ 2,946.25 Private Prop.-$ 9,577.25 Total: $12,523.50 <br /> 1992 Shade Tree Proqram: <br /> For 1992, $16,029.00 is budgeted to finance the Shade Tree Program. <br /> Tree Inspector, Dave Winkel, is scheduled to divide his time between park <br /> maintenance and the diseased tree program. During May and June, his major <br /> responsibility will be park maintenance; however, one-half day per week will be <br /> allocated to tree inspections and response to citizens' requests. During July, <br /> August, and September, his time will be directed to the tree program. During these <br /> months, he will accomplish the following: <br /> . Conduct a city-wide inspection to identify and mark diseased trees for <br /> removal <br /> Issue work orders to the tree contractor and supervise tree removal <br /> . Inspect all w=k sites before issuing payment <br /> I reconnnend that the 1992 Tree and stump ReJroVal contract be the same form as used <br /> in 1991. <br />. 1. The =ntract= I s performance and payment bond is determined by the total <br /> payment made to the contractor the previous year. The 1991 payment for <br /> private property tree removal was $9,577. I reconnnend the 1992 bond be set at <br /> $9,000. <br />
