[F C\ ~ 0 [LO lYO [g~ O)J [f) [Q) C\ lJ [g March, 1992 Vol. 3, No.1 MAPLEWOOD The new Maplewood Library on Beam Ave, and Kennard St. is becoming a very imposing sight, The high center section of the building has roof decking on it, allowing you to see how tall it will be when it's finished, There is styrofoam insulation on the foundation, making the interior so warm on the lower level that the masons are working in shirt sieeves. The ground is thawed, so underground utilities are being placed on the lower level in preparation for pouring the lower level slab. -Alice-Jo Carlson ROSEVILLE The architects, Buetow and Associates, have been meeting with a staff . committee to develop schematic drawings forthe new 43,000 square foot building. The public area will be 33,000 square feet, with 10,000 square feet for staff and mechanical, The building will be constructed so that it will be expandable upward. During the next phase of the project, the architects will work on schematics for staff review and Library Board approval. After this design development phase, the focus will be on finishes and the exterior look of the building, At their meeting on February 25, the Library Board approved the following summer schedule for the Roseville Library: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, 10-8 Friday 10-5 Saturday. 10-1 Sunday Closed This schedule will be re-evaluated toward the end of the summer when the impact of the construction project at the Roseville Library is known. Bids will be received and construction will begin in August. -Alice-Jo Carlson SHOREVIEW . The opening date forthe Shoreview Library, 4570 No. Victoria St., has been set for June 1, with the Summer Reading Program scheduled to begin a week later, on June 8.
