[F C\ ~ 0 [LO lYO [g~ O)J [f) [Q) C\ lJ [g <br /> March, 1992 <br /> Vol. 3, No.1 <br /> MAPLEWOOD <br /> The new Maplewood Library on Beam Ave, and Kennard St. is becoming a <br /> very imposing sight, The high center section of the building has roof decking on it, <br /> allowing you to see how tall it will be when it's finished, There is styrofoam insulation <br /> on the foundation, making the interior so warm on the lower level that the masons <br /> are working in shirt sieeves. The ground is thawed, so underground utilities are being <br /> placed on the lower level in preparation for pouring the lower level slab. <br /> -Alice-Jo Carlson <br /> ROSEVILLE <br /> The architects, Buetow and Associates, have been meeting with a staff <br /> . committee to develop schematic drawings forthe new 43,000 square foot building. <br /> The public area will be 33,000 square feet, with 10,000 square feet for staff and <br /> mechanical, The building will be constructed so that it will be expandable upward. <br /> During the next phase of the project, the architects will work on schematics <br /> for staff review and Library Board approval. After this design development phase, <br /> the focus will be on finishes and the exterior look of the building, <br /> At their meeting on February 25, the Library Board approved the following <br /> summer schedule for the Roseville Library: <br /> Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, 10-8 <br /> Friday 10-5 <br /> Saturday. 10-1 <br /> Sunday Closed <br /> This schedule will be re-evaluated toward the end of the summer when the <br /> impact of the construction project at the Roseville Library is known. Bids will be <br /> received and construction will begin in August. <br /> -Alice-Jo Carlson <br /> SHOREVIEW <br /> . The opening date forthe Shoreview Library, 4570 No. Victoria St., has been set <br /> for June 1, with the Summer Reading Program scheduled to begin a week later, on <br /> June 8. <br /> The furniture and shelving should be arriving in early May. The Support <br /> SeNices Department is busily at work cataloging the collection for the Shoreview <br />
