'"'
. CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
~
DM'E: .JUly 9, 1992
TO: Mayor and city Council
FRCM: Dan Winkel, Public Works superintendent ~
SUBJECr: Public Works Weekly Report
This week, the Public Works crew read residential water meters and carrg:Jleted
the task on 'I\1esday. Repairs to the meters will be carrg:Jleted in two weeks.
'll1e jetter truck was used to clean the area north of I -694 and will be
conplet€d next week. 'll1e entire southern area of town was carrg:Jleted last
year.
This week, two members of the crew were out on vacation and one member was out
due to illness.
On Monday and 'I\1esday, the water level at Keithson Pond was lowered. 'll1e
rains received last week raised the pond to a fairly high level.
. The Tiller Lane reconstruction project is moving along very well. The suJ::cut
portion of the job will be conplete this week. CUrb and gutter work will
begin on Friday or possibly on Monday of next week.
Mark Graham and I met with representatives from New Brighton and both
rerilering plants in New Brighton. Apparently, a storm sewer line originates
at the old rendering plant site in Arden Hills, that runs into New Brighton
and enq;Jties into I.Dng Lake, has deteri=ated at the SUburban L.P. Gas site and
is causing major damage to their facility. 'll1e Merilelkoch Co. is the main
user of this storm sewer, rot because the line originates in Arden Hills,
Merilelkoch 're::ruested Arden Hills to participate in the repairs to the
facilities at SUburban Gas. We told Mendelkoch co. we believe the line is not
=ently used by anyone in Arden Hills and the City would not be interested
in paying for repair work on the line. 'll1e City may have to abandon and fill
the line on our side of 1-35W to guarantee the line is not in use by anyone
else. 'll1e only question that rerrains is the possible use by S.T.S. steel Co.
(this is the old Minnesota Diversified Building) . We will keep you posted as
to our findings.
If the Council should have any questions or =ncerns, please =ntact me.
OO/ts
~
