Nuisance <br /> type vandalism such as: painting play structures and shelters, stealing <br /> signs, defacing picnic tables, tipping over toilets and trashing waste <br /> barrels have =ed at some park sites. 'Ihe "hot spots" f= vandalism <br /> is directly related to the age of the youth living in the adjacent <br /> neighborhood. Ingerson, Hazelnut, Valentine, and Perry have been <br /> troubled parks in the past. CUrrnnings Park this year has been added to <br />. the list of troubled parks. Fortunately, as the neighborhood youths <br /> grcM older, the vandalism will decrease or stop. <br /> NEIGHBOR!KX)!) PICNICS <br /> 'IWo neighborhood picnics are scheduled over the next two weekends. <br /> Mounds view High neighborhood will have their rained out Labor Day <br /> picnic on Saturday, September 13 at Valentine Park from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. <br /> Chatham, neighborhood will have their fall picnic on Saturday, September <br /> 19 at Valentine Hills school from 4:00-7:00 pm. <br /> A big turnout is expected at l:xJth events-this may be a good time to <br /> educate the residents about the new J::uilding projects and seek support <br /> f= the bond referendum. <br /> MAIN'I'ENANCE ~S <br /> 'Ihe cool wet weather has stimulated the growth of grass so the parks, <br /> trails, and boulevards are being mowed on a weekly schedule. Soccer and <br /> softball facilities are also being maintained to meet the needs of fall f <br /> youth ~r and softball programs. <br /> JTB:rk <br />. <br />
