Buckley, Parks Directod~ <br /> SUBJECT: Request to Purchase OIIerhaJlqs for Ballfield Backstops <br /> Several =mplaints have been received from baseball and softball teams <br /> that are loosing balls at Arden Hills parks because the backstops behind <br /> home plate do not have an overhang. A few of the fields at City Parks <br /> ab.1t wocxied areas, so it is not easy to find the softballs when hit over <br /> the backstops. Monies were J:udgeted in the 1992 Budget to place <br /> overhangs at Perry 1, Perry 4, Floral, Hazelnut, and Royal Hills Parks, <br /> to reduce the balls "going into the rough". <br /> I have solicited quotations for materials and installation of the <br /> overhangs from the following carrpanies: <br /> Anchor Fencing $2,885.00 <br /> . Century Fencing 4,159.00 <br /> Crowley Fencing 7,780.00 <br /> Crown Fencing 4,870.00 <br /> REX::CHlENDATION: <br /> It is recorrrrnended that the contract be awarded to Anchor Fence in the <br /> amount of $2, 885.00 to provide material and labor to install overhangs <br /> at the five ballfields.
