Buckley, Parks Director <br /> SUBJECT: Results of 1992 Diseased Tree Ranoval Bids <br /> Advertisement for bids for diseased tree removal were placed in the New <br /> Brighton Bulletin on March 25 and April 1- Bid specifications were also <br /> mailed to contractors previously bidding in 1990 and 1991 as well as <br /> those expressing interest. <br /> Two sealed bids were received from Arp's Tree Service, Anoka, MN, and <br /> Ceres Tree Service, st. Paul, MN. See Exhibit A. <br /> Bids were tah.11ated by applying each bid quote to the number of trees <br /> removed in 1991- See Exhibit B. <br />. Ceres Tree Service was $10.00 lower than Arp I S Tree Service when <br /> tah.1lating the cost of tree removal only. However, Ceres Tree Service <br /> is 1/3 higher than Arp's when considering the cost of removing stumps. <br /> Thirty-three (33) stumps (for a total of 646 diameter inches) were <br /> removed from public or private properties in 1991- <br /> No brush piles were removed in 1990 or 1991- <br /> REXXlMMENDATION: <br /> staff recarnrnends Arp's Tree Service, Anoka, MN, be awarded the Diseased <br /> Tree and stump Removal Contract for 1992 based on the following <br /> information: <br /> . Arp's Tree Service would be the low bid when tah.1lating the <br /> cost of tree and stump removal. <br /> . Arp's Tree Service did satisfactory work in 1991- <br /> AC1'ION REl)UlRE[): <br /> If Council con=s with the staff recommendation, they should pass a <br /> motion awarding the tree and stump removal contract to Arp I S Tree <br /> Service based on their bid and past satisfactory work. <br /> JTB/ts <br />.
