As you may recall, this issue gained visibility as a result <br /> of =ent medical leave errployee, Fred Reed, apparently having no <br /> specific salary continuation after his short-term disability l:enefits <br /> are exhauste:l. <br /> It should be noted that City errployees may apply for long-term <br /> disability l:enefits provided by Minnesota Public Employees Retirement <br /> Association. Mr. Reed is =ently exploring this option. <br /> 'Ihe city's Broker, 'Ihe Ochs Agency, prepared a bid analysis of LID <br /> . carriers and recommends the proposal from Fortis Benefits. 'Ihe cost of <br /> coverage that would provide 60 percent of earnings to a maximum benefit <br /> of $3,000 per month is $202.44 per month or $10.65 per errployee per <br /> month. <br /> A review of the 1991 stanton Employee Benefits SUrvey indicates that <br /> relatively feN units of goverrnnent contriWte toward the cost of this <br /> type of benefit. <br /> TRP Its <br /> M92-184 <br /> . <br /> i <br />
