Schulte VIA DELIVERY
Commander's Representative
Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant
New Brighton, MN 55112
RE: Arden Hills City Hall/Public Works/Parks Facility
TCAAP Land Acquisition
. . Dear Mr. Schulte:
Please accept this correspondence as a re-affirmation by the City of Arden Hills of our very
strong interest in gaining access to TCAAP property at Sunfish Lake for new City Hall/Public
Works/Parks facilities. Preliminary design drawings for the proposed facilities are attached for
your information and review. We have also attached our previous correspondence - 6.26.92 and
7.2292 - to assure that your files are complete.
The City of Arden Hills wishes to obtain a lease with TCAAP for the property necessary to
construct the proposed facilities. Simultaneous with this exercise, we would like to pursue
outright release of all TCAAP property east of the extension of Hamline to Arden Hills. The
City's immediate need is the land area necessary for the new City Hall and Public Works/Parks
facilities. We understand the environmental contamination issues associated with Site H on the
north side of Sunfish lake and with the M-550 Grenade Area on the north end of the larger
parcel. Fortunately, we do not need those site areas for the proposed facilities (see attached
exhibits for illustration of the proposed buildings and their locations).
Finally, in response to the letter from Don E. lappin, Chief, General law /Congressional Affairs.
Division to Anne Crowther of Senator Dave Durenberger's Office (also attached), we hereby
request that the installation commander determine whether or not the property can be declared
excess Utem 1) and, secondly, state that the City of Arden Hills is prepared to undertake the
environmental assessment (Item 2), at its cost, to facilitate this proposed land transfer.
.
PHONE: 16121 633-5676 .
