Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> EDC AGENDA ITEM – 3C <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: April 24, 2024 <br /> <br />TO: Economic Development Commission Members <br /> <br />FROM: Elena Fransen, Senior Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Sign Code Review – Summary of Review <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Staff is asking the Economic Development Commission for a volunteer or multiple volunteers to <br />provide a presentation of the drafted sign ordinance revisions at the June 5, 2024 meeting of the <br />Planning Commission, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The volunteer(s) would work with staff to develop <br />and present a PowerPoint presentation to explain the recommended revisions and answer questions <br />the Commissioners might have. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />At the March 27, 2024 EDC meeting, a motion was made to recommend approval of the drafted <br />sign code review summary document with amendments. The motion passed 8-0. The amended <br />version of the summary document is provided as Attachment A. The summary document would <br />serve as the basis for discussion with the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission is an advisory board appointed by the City Council. The members are <br />residents of the City who volunteer to serve on the Commission. One of the duties of the <br />Commission is to consider and recommend changes to the city’s Zoning Code. The Planning <br />Commission also reviews land use applications, including requests for additional signage through <br />the Planned Unit Development process and site plan reviews for Sign Standard Adjustments. <br /> <br />Next Steps <br /> <br />The EDC should discuss and determine if there is a volunteer or multiple volunteers interested. <br />Staff will then follow up to work on next steps for the presentation. <br /> <br />Attachments <br />A.
