Kriesel, Building Inspector <br /> stlIlJB!l': Remodeling Valuation at 1178 Benton way <br /> On November 2, 1992, Mr. Scott larson, 1178 Benton Way, applied for a <br /> Building Pennit (#4644), showing an estimated value of $1,400.00. Upon <br /> review of the suhnitted plans, I found the value for permit to be <br /> $26,113.05. <br /> My review of the original building plans showed that the lower level met <br /> the requirements of a story and not as a basement. '!his required me to <br /> value the improvement at $31. 05 a square foot. ('!he valuation deducted <br /> the square footage cost of the basement to a story $44.98 - $13.93 = <br /> $31. 05.) '!his valuation was met by opposition from Mr. Larson. <br /> On subsequent meeting between Mr. larson and the City Administrator, Mr. <br /> . larson has raised the value from $1,400.00, to $6,000.00 and finally to <br /> $9,000.00 to include additional costs and labor. <br /> Although my valuations have been found to be realistic in prior cases, I <br /> requested that Mr. larson obtain three separate bids form legitimate <br /> contractors to find a reasonable value of the construction. '!his again <br /> was met by opposition from Mr. larson and this is his reason for <br /> appearing before you. <br /> '!he valuation sheets used are provided by the state of Minnesota and the <br /> International Conference of Building Officials.
