Person, City 1ldmini.strator ~ DATE : ~hAr 10, 1992 SUBJECT: R...... .......1'ldation for License and Permit Changes At the Council's last meeting, they received a recommendation from the citizen's Advisory Finance Committee regarding potential changes in business fee licenses and permits. '!he fees have not in=eased since 1987 (liquor license fees were in=eased in 1990 and are not in this current recommendation) . In order to provide for proper timing of notifications to businesses of increases and current fees, it is recommended that the Council act on the following: FEE CHANGES OF CURRENT LICENSES: . 1) In=ease in sign license fees: Initial permit fee - from $25.00 to $50.00 for 1993. Annual sign license fee - 100 sq. ft. or less from $10.00 to $20.00; 101 sq. ft. to 400 sq. ft. from $2.00/additional to $4.00/additional; over 400 sq. ft. from $2.50/additional to $5.00/additional. '!hese in=eases are expected to double the current collection to $3,750 per year income. 2) In=ease the drive-through restaurant fee from $250.00 to $300.00 for an additional $100.00 per year. 3) Increase retail sales license fees from $40.00 to $50.00. 4) Delete the Rendering Plant license fee. 5) Approve the changes in the following permit structure: a. Sewer permit - from $15 to $35 b. Water permit - from $15 to $35; installation from $15/OOur to $30/hour. c. Plumbing permit - from $15.50 minimum plus $5.00 for each additional fixture to $15.50 for the first fixture and $7.50 for each additional fixture. Further review in process and discussion will be needed at a future date for the following: . 1- Review the ordinance for definitions of amusement devices and cigarette machines. - -----------
