Person, City Mministrator morE: ""'-nhon" 18, 1992 SUBJECT: city Facilities - Review of q)tions In discussions with the City's Architect and Financial Planner, the following options are forwarded for your review at the December 21 worksession - these alternative costs are extremely preliminary and subject to some change. The plan for the Public Works facility included sitework ($312,000) and the building costs ($1,773,000) for a total cost of $2,165.000. TIle referen::lum ($2,800,000) included borrling and legal costs in addition to some city Hall costs . Listed below are further options for design and I::uilding costs on the Public Works building. F\.1rther details will be discussed 12-21-92 with infonnation fram the Architect: . 1) Reduce the building, storage and maintenance areas by 10 percent f= a total of approximately $2,074,000. 2) Reduce areas by decreasing cold storage areas by 10 percent f= a total of approximately $2,049,000. 3) Reduce area by 15 percent - this option would reduce future space needs for a total of approximately $2,031,000. 4) Use a metal building system (in lieu of precast concrete and masonry) wt use same plan for I::uildings for a total of approxilnately $1,802,000. 5) Use =ent site, with existing Public Works I::uilding used as cold and miscellaneous storage with minor improvements, build a Public Works addition next to the current I::uilding and salt/sand storage and site improvements for a total of approxilnately $1,725,000, with an additional wilding for city Hall. 6) Use =ent site and wilding with improvements, I::uild sa'nd/salt storage, cold storage, carnply with MJA and current codes for a total of approxilnately $730,000, with an additional I::uilding for City Hall. .
