The tour was beneficic11 in our <br /> . decj.si(in makj,ng process and 'very educational. <br /> One of. the pos.ibilities was to use existing buildings that could <br /> be remodeled for our use. After our revie'A' we have deter.mined <br /> thac for reasons of age, design, si ze, and access, this <br /> alternative would not provide for our needs and, ther;efore, I <br /> would not anticipate further consideration. <br /> You also mentioned a possibility we do wish to consider, which is <br /> the acquisition of vacant land or land which contains a structur;'e <br /> that is scheduled for demolition. One such parcel is of <br /> pal:cicular interest to us, and is one which I would like to <br /> pursue to a definite conclusion. That parcel is the <br /> approximatel.y 47 acre site pr.eviously used by the Army Reserve <br /> north of T.H.96 on the extension of Hamline Avenue. 'rhis <br /> location is of particular interest because of its possibility of <br /> convenient public access, a defined perimeter road, and the <br /> availability because of the recent move of the Reserve. <br /> I would like to investigate two avenues of acquisition: direct <br /> property transfer and/or long term lease. Because thi; <br /> deve lopme.n t costs for a new facility .will be in the range of $7-9 <br /> million, we need some assuran~e the land will be aVCiilable <br /> throughout the life of the development.
