The tour was beneficial in our <br />~ecision making process and ~ery educational. <br /> <br />. One of. the possibilities was to use existing buildings that could <br />b. remodeled for our use. After our review we have determined <br />thal: for teasons of age, design, size, and access, this <br />alternative would not provide for our needs and, therefore, I <br />would not anticipate further consideration. <br /> <br />You also mentioned a possibility we do wish to consider, which is <br />the acquisition of vacant land or land which contains a structure <br />that is scheduled for demolition. One such parcel is of <br />particular interest to us, and is one which I would like to <br />pursue to a definite conclusion. That parcel is the <br />approximately 47 acre site pr.eviously used by the Army Reserve <br />north of T.H.96 on the extension of Hamline Avenue. This <br />location is of particular interest because of-its pOSSibility of <br />convenient public access, a defined perimeter road, and the <br />availability because of the recent mOVe of the Reserve. <br /> <br />1 would like to investigate two avenues of acquisition: direct <br />property transfer and/or long term lease. Secause the <br />development costs for a new facility .will be in the range of $7-9 <br />million, we need some assurance the land will be available <br />throughout the life of the development. I have discussed this <br />action with. the Executive Director of Ramsey County who_ has <br />extended his support in this investigative effort. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />I:b..
