An outline of me local initiative
project development process was provided and discussed, with the City Council choosing to
move forward with preparation of a feasibility report and preliminary layout.
It is our understanding from you, however, that a difference of opinion exists between the
MnDOT Planning Section, who views the signalized intersection as a viable option, and the
MnDOT Traffic Section who may not view it as an option. We further understand that an
internal MnDOT meeting is set for March 25, 1993 for the Planning and Traffic Section to
further discuss tlris matter.
It is unfortunate mat the City has been told that a signalized intersection is an option, and tlJat
tlris was relayed to the numerous residents interested in tlris issue. The possibility of tlris work
was presented at an overflow-crowded meeting at City Hall on January 25, 1993. Another
public hearing to further discuss a possible signalized intersection will be held on March 29,
1993, The anticipated crowd at tlris meeting has forced the City to move the meeting location
to the Mounds View High School Cafeteria at 7:30 p.m.
We encourage MnDOT to determine once and for all, if the signalized intersection
improvements are an option that would be considered for financial participation. If at all
possible, we would ask that your internal meeting be held as soon as possible, to limit further
-
1959 SLOAN PLACE. SUITE 200, ST.
