. CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
MIM:lRANDtlM
TO: Dorothy Person, City 1'-Ami"i strater
FRCM: Dan winkel, Public Works Superintendent IJ. vv'.
DATE: December 22, 1993 J
SUBJECl': Storm Water Appeals for PE!\ltan Towrlhares
The "south" Hcrreowners Association for the pemtcm Townbomes have also sent in
an appeal for the assessed storm water rates. To date, staff has received
only a letter outlining concerns aJ:out how the rate was established. The
hareowners feel they should l::e assessed an individual resident rate rather
than the low density multiple dwelling rate that was used. Currently the
townhouse area is zoned R-3 and is considered low density. The entire
townhouse area is serviced by a series of small ponds and storm sewer pipes
that rrove a l1Bjority of water in a south and westerly direction. Staff is
waiting for additional information frcrn the Townbome Association regarding
this appeal. The current R-3 low density zoning has a rate of $32.48 per
acre. The fee calculation for the Pemtcm Townhouses are as follows:
. Total Acreage 70.52 acres
Minus acreage of public roads 4.72 acres
Numl::er of Townbomes 306 units
Quarterly fee per acre $32 .48
Fee calculation:
(70.52-4.27) X $32.48 /306 = $7.00 per unit per quarter
It is my understanding that the townhanes request for their appeal l::e heard at
the January 20, 1994 Council Worksession. Staff would then evaluate any new
information that is subnitted by the Hareowners Association.
r:w:to
.
