. CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
MEMJRl\NCllM
DATE : January 24, 1994
'10: Dorothy A. Person, City J'u'lmini strator
FRCM: Brian Fritsinger, CamIlnity P1ann:i.ng Coordina~
SUBJECl' : Pay Equity Report to Dept. of Ehp10yee Relations
Attached is the City of Arden Hills 1993 Pay Equity Irrplerrentation
report . This report is required by the Local G:lVemnent Pay Equity Act,
M,S. 471,991-471,999 and Minnesota Rules, Chapter 3920. You should note
that this report is due on January 31, 1994,
To be in canpliance, the report must pass several tests including
statistical analysis, These include giving mER carplete and accurate
inforrration, The analysis of salary ranges tlUlSt show that at least 80%
of the fetn3.le classes are not at a disadvantage in cc:nparison to rrale
classes.
. After mER has analyzed the City's irrplerrentation report, a written
notification will be sent explaining the canpliance decision. If the
City is not in canpliance, we will be given reccmrended actions to
achieve canpliance.
Cities not in canpliance will face a penalty of a 5 percent reduction in
State Aid or a $100.00 per day fine. Arden Hills is part of a regular
reporting cycle including 1/3 of all jurisdictions reporting in 1994.
This report is very similar to that canpleted in 1991 as only minor
changes have oc=ed, While the points have renained the same, the
number of job classes has been reduced and the Male/Fetn3.le class types
has changed. I w:Juld expect the plan to be in carpliance.
I w:Juld request that the City Council review the 1993 Pay Equity report
and authorize it's approval and subnittal to mER.
B:rk
.
