I
..
I INTRODUCTION
I The Arden Hills City Council authorized the preparation of a feasibility report to outline the
proposed improvements of Amble Drive from Karth Lake Road to Lexington Avenue,
Bussard Court west of Snelling Avenue, Dunlap Street from Ingerson Road to Canon Drive
I and Keithson Drive south of T.R. 96. This feasibility was initiated by the City Council
following staff evaluation of the City's Capital Improvements Plan and the Pavement
Evaluation System included within the CIP. The streets are all located in neighborhoods
I which are zoned residential and are presented in Exhibit 1.
I SCOPE
I The purpose of this study is to analyze the feasibility of repairing Amble Drive, Bussard
Court, Dunlap Street and Keithson Drive. The options to be discussed range from complete
reconstruction with sub grade drainage improvements to a bituminous overlay over the existing
I surface or cold in-place recycling.
This feasibility study will discuss existing conditions proposed improvements and estimated
. project costs. The total project costs consist of estimated construction costs and overhead
costs, to include City administration, engineering, legal and fiscal expenses. The possible
fmancing methods will be addressed using the City's Assessment Manual as a guide. A
I proposed project schedule is also included in this report.
EXISTING CONDITIONS
I Amble Drive
I Amble Drive is approximately 1,925 feet long and extends from Karth Lake Road, southeast
to Lexington Avenue. The existing roadway is 32-feet wide with surmountable concrete curb
and gutter within a 60 foot wide right-of-way and serves a single family residential
I neighborhood, zoned R-l. The street should be reconstructed as a typical urban residential
section which would require a 32-foot wide roadway with B618 concrete curb and gutter and
a 9-ton design capacity in accordance with current Minnesota Department of Transportation
I (MnDOT) standards. Both sewer and water utilities extend along the length of Amble Drive;
however, no watermain work is required according to the City's public works department.
I The City has scheduled sanitary sewer televising prior to the initiation of street repairs, this
will provide information which will indicate whether or not sewer maintenance is necessary.
I 3
{'
I
