PUBLIC WORKS/SAFETY COMMITTEE <br /> FEBRUARY 17, 1994 <br /> PUBLIC WORKS LUNCHROOM <br /> Meeting was called to order by Chair Dick Roessler at 7:35 p.m. <br /> Councilmember Probst administered the Oath of Office to all <br /> members present. <br /> A motion to approve the January minutes by Arnie Delger, seconded <br /> by Dick Fregeau passed. <br /> RAMSEY COUNTY SHERIFF'S REPORT - Lieutenant Dick Dornbusch was in <br /> attendance to review the fourth quarter 1993 criminal statistics <br /> for Arden Hills. Some key points: <br /> . Arden Hills has relatively low crime rates. <br /> · Community Public Relations can be used to prevent crime and <br /> burglary. <br /> . Juvenile offenses are up for all communities. <br /> . First ring suburbs have higher crime rates. Arden Hills may <br /> be considered a first ring suburb within ten years. <br /> Lieutenant Dornbush also advised committee members that contract <br /> cities are looking to purchase a S.M.A.R.T. trailer; this is a <br />. trailer mounted radar unit that can also perform traffic counts. <br /> The unit would be used in various locations. A visual sign will <br /> tell motorists how fast they are moving. The base price is <br /> approximately $8,7000. Delivery and set-up are not included. <br /> Lieutenant Dornbusch reviewed traffic violations for Arden Hills, <br /> fourth quarter 1993. <br /> FIRE REPORT - Fire Chief Dan Winkel, reviewed the 1993 Arden <br /> Hills fire statistics. The Fire Department reimbursed Arden <br /> Hills approximately $6,500.00 for 1993. This represents the <br /> balance that the Fire Department did not spend in 1993. <br /> PUBLIC WORKS REPORT - Public Works Superintendent Dan Winkel <br /> reviewed the 5 year capital equipment program with the committee. <br /> More infrastructure information will follow. <br /> OTHER BUSINESS - The committee will try to rotate members taking <br /> minutes on a monthly basis. Arnie Delger will do minutes in <br /> March. Committee chair rotation will be discussed at the March <br /> Meeting. <br /> WATER METER REPLACEMENT SUB-COMMITTEE - The committee will meet <br /> on March 10, 1994, 7:30 p.m. at the Public Works Building to <br /> discuss the residential and commercial meter replacement issues. <br />. <br />
