Chair Winiecki asked if the Economic Deyelopment Committee would be made aware of the Lexington Ayenue study? Councilmember Aplikowski replied at some time the two committees should meet together and discuss these issues; but until then, the committee will be briefed on Planning Commission issues. Mr. Fritsinger stated the committee is designed to inform the businesses about the community and the City procedure. Later, they will advance to discussions on land deyelopment. Chair Winiecki then asked if the committee is responsible for the promotion of Arden Hills for prospective businesses. Councilmember Aplikowski expressed this was a mid-summer goal. If the committee had been in existence prior to Eyerest approaching the City, they would haye been the first group to meet with Everest and possibly even the Ryder case two years ago. Currently, the committee is in the process of familiarizing themselves with the City. Once this . process is completed, the committee can begin to discuss City ordinances and any issues of concern. Chair Winiecki asked if it was too early to introduce Arden Hills to the Fox Network. A current newspaper article stated the network was looking for a location close to Minneapolis, St Paul and the airport. Chair Winiecki felt Arden Hills was a prime location. Mr, McGraw asked Councilmember Aplikowski the difference between the Community Development Commission and the Economic Development Committee. He explained he didn't need an answer now but to think about it. In the past, Arden Hills hasn't had any problems like the recent failure of Arden Plaza. He stated no action has been taken to reyitalize and redevelop this area. It is being overlooked until the City attempts to deyelop the T.C.A.A.P. area. Mr. McGraw responded with an idea of hiring someone to bring new businesses in and reyitalize Arden Hills. He feels if these areas are oyer looked the decline will continue and driye out more businesses. He referred to the City of Roseyille's clean-up and development projects undertaken in the last few years. He then proceeded to compare the development of Arden Hills which has been extremely minimal. . He stated more money is spent on the development of colleges which aren't taxable.
