-,
,
I
,
_I
STREET AND PROPERTY ACCESS
l. Access from private property to Lexington Avenue and County Road E
will find increasing difficulty as traffic volumes increase. At
present, only four of such accesses exist onto Lexington Avenue.
2. A number of properties are connected by driveways or share common
parking areas that overlap property lines.
3. Several uses with side-by-side drives onto separate sites will
become problems as tra ffi c increases. Turning movements at the
intersections will frequently require crossing traffic patterns.
County Road E has two of these situations.
IMPACT:
When a median is installed on Lexington Avenue, left turns in to and out
of private driveways will be eliminated. Thi s will cause hardshi p to
the affected businesses and alternative solutions for access must be
found. The practice of interconnections between private properties
should be expanded--especially along the County Road E and Lexington i
Avenue frontages. (The North Park development uses this concept with ,
,
three structures on one property having shared and connected parking .
lots. )
-16-
