----
,
ELECTRICAL AND RAIL SERVICE
l. Overhead electrical service has not been used in any of the e
recently developed properti es (see shaded areas) and will not be
used on the few remaining vacant sites. i
,
I
2. Overhead electrical service was used exclusively on the older sites
in the area. I
!
3. Rail service has been removed from several warehouse facilities in
the area and very 1i ke1y will be used very rarely as the older
sites are redeveloped. The International Paper operation and the
Olympia Brewing distributor are the only two recently built sites
that use rail service.
IMPACT:
As the area is upgraded with high quality buildings and sites, overhead
electrical service becomes more noticeable and inappropriate. The wi res
and poles are unattractive and add to the cluttered "industrial"
appearance of a past era. Electrical service lines along Red Fox and
Grey Fox Roads could be placed underground and would make the two
interior access and circulation streets more attractive.
Rail access is available to four or five sites in the study area and ~
should rema i n available to those sites now using it. The through-rail
route and spur lines are located on rear property lines, with only one .
crossing of a public street.
-20-
