--------
(E) C!J) Jl Independent School DIstrict No. 621
. lf~ll ~~~~~~~~:~:3~~~~~~
March 2, 1994
.
Mayor Tom Sather
Arden Hills City Hall
1450 W. Highway 96
Arden Hills, MN 55112
Dear Mayor Sather:
Each school district in Minnesota is involved in the process of determining what
the community believes graduates of their schools should know and be able to
do upon graduation from high school. The State Department of Education is
addressing the same question on a statewide basis. The information from these
meetings will be passed on to the school board as input for our 621 Graduation
Rule.
. District 621, the Mounds View Schools, has begun discussing what we would
expect our graduates to know, value and be able to do upon graduation. Each
school PTA, PTO, or other parentlteacher organization is hosting a meeting to
gather input. The school board will have an opportunity to participate in a
similar process. A gathering of alumni from our high schools will be invited to
participate. We would like to invite a representative from your organization to
contribute to this community effort as well.
A meeting to discuss District 621 Graduation Standards and to listen to the
suggestions of a variety of our citizens will be held at the Chippewa Middle
SchoollMC on April 11 from 7:00-8:30 PM. We urge you to send an interested
person from your organization to be a participant in this process. Please call
Nancy Hansen, at 636-3650, with the name, address, and phone number of
your representative. She will contact those people with further details about the
meeting.
Questions about the process? Call Martha Tiede or Barbara Leary at 636-3650,
for more information.
Thanks for your interest in writing a Graduation Standard for District 621. We
look forward to your participation.
Sincerely,
. ~?tr--
Dr. Burton Nyg en
Serving the communities of Arden Hills . Mounds View . New Brighton. North Oaks .
