<br /> . CRITERIA <br /> An entry should show that: <br /> 1. The city has a pro-active commitment to seeking alternatives to the court system to resolving <br /> disputes. <br /> 2. The city must have demonstrated political courage to submit a tough issue to an alternative <br /> process rather than the courts. <br /> 3. The situation must be either difficult and the approach to solving it exhibits creativity, <br /> leadership and a commitment to resolve the matter, not delay a decision. <br /> 4. Complete resolution is not a prerequisite. <br /> ApPUCATlON PROCESS: <br /> Each application must include: <br /> 1. Community identification and population being served. <br /> 2. Detailed description of the situation that lead to the use of an alternative means for resolving <br /> the dispute. <br /> 3. The participants, process and duration of the resolution, respecting parties' rights to privacy <br /> when necessary. (IMPORTANT NOTE: For privacy considerations, you may wish to consider <br /> asking the parties to sign a publicity or model's release.) <br /> 4. Description of how this technique produced a resolution that would not have been reached <br /> in any way other than through the court system. <br /> S. Description of any barriers to either the concept or process, and how they were overcome. <br /> 6. Demonstration that the alternative, creative method for resolving the dispute fostered a <br /> sense of community or fostered a feeling of goodwill toward city officials by those involved in <br /> . the dispute. <br /> Entries must not exceed five (S) pages, plus application cover, for a total of six (6) pages. An <br /> application form is included in this Bulletin, and may be reproduced as warranted. <br /> Entries must be received by the AMM office by S p.m. Thursday, May S, 1994. Those received <br /> after that date will not be considered.
