AIlDEN BILLS NEWSLETTER . APRIL 29. 1994 1. ADMINISTRATION - ** Mayor Sather will be attending the Wednesday, May 4 Planning Comndssion meeting. He is asking that all Councilmembers try and attend this meeting. ** A. Reminder: The strategic Planning session is scheduled for Monday, May 2 at the Ramada Inn, Minneapolis Room from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. B. Reminder: The second Council meeting in May is May 23 due to the last Monday of the month falling on Memorial Day, and secondly, the New Brighton City Council meets on Tuesday. C. Letter attached from residents Ted & Terry Hoxmeier addressing their issue of controlling the geese population within the City. D. Attached is a copy of a letter from Laddie J. Elling regarding an interest in pursuing a g~lf course on the TCAAP property. E. The Local No. 49 contract agreement has been signed by all affected parties with wage increase effective January 1, and Life insurance coverage effective May 1, 1994. 2. PUBLIC WO!UtS- A. Public Works Superintendent is working with representatives from NSP who are interested in installing a radio antennae on one of the City's water towers. This is planned to be an agenda item for the May 9 Council meeting. B. Public Works Superintendent is talking with Cellular One representatives regarding changing the existing Cellular One . antennas on the Fernwood Water Tower. This is planned to be an agenda item for the May 9 Council meeting. C. Bethel College has questioned their Surface Water management fees and there may be a possible appeal. D. All Public Works crew members have attended a day long training session sponsored by the Local No. 49 in conjunction with other cities. Topics included how to deal with the public and how city government is changing. E. The new personalized security codes will be in effect on Friday, April 29 at 4:30 pm. 3. CC1NdDNITY PLANlUNG- A. Planning packets for the May 4 Planning Commission meeting are enclosed. 4. PARKS , RECREATION - A. Mary L. Gillies from the Parks & Recreation Committee has submitted a letter of resignation. A thank you letter will be forwarded to her. 5. FJ:NllNCl!:- A. External auditors (Abdo, Abdo & Eick) completed Phase I of 1993 year-end fieldwork on 4/15/94. They will again be on site 4/28/94 for punch list cleanup items. B. Additional 1995 MWCC billings will be $3,429 because of 1993 underpayments. See notice enclosed. C. As the Accountant mentioned at the last Council meeting, $26,474.31 was wire transferred to the Department of Justice as part of the Oak Grove settlement with the Trust. On April 29, 1994 it was found that $24,474.31 had actually been wire transferred due to confusion in the instructions. The full amount . is now paid.
